winefest-boothFall is my favorite season of the year. It’s a time when the temperature cools down and Sedona comes alive with an array of festivals and events that last all the way through the holidays.

In the coming months, locals and visitors alike can have fun sampling wines, dancing to music, eating great food and enjoying art.  Make a point to participate in the variety of festivities!

Vortifest kicked off the festival season on Labor Day weekend with live music from Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra, Damiyr, The Bergamot and several others.

Continuing with music, the Red Rocks Music Festival begins its 22nd season on Sunday, September 10 with the 70th birthday celebration of composer Daniel Asia and runs until November 11.

Dog lovers have their very own festival with Sedona WagFest & Fair put on by the city of Sedona on September 16 at Posse Grounds Pavilion. It’s the perfect day for dogs and their humans. This canine event features booths where you can shop and learn about dog-related products and services. It’s free, fun and family-friendly.

On September 23 and 24, the 14th annual Sedona Winefest returns from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Posse Grounds Park. Taste fabulous Arizona wines from 23 wineries, and other libations such as beer and distilled spirits as well as food from local vendors. Music on Saturday will be performed by DJ Pablonious Funk and Moon Tsunami and on Sunday, a local fan favorite, Naughty Bits.

The Sedona Arts Festival, October 7 and 8 at the Sedona Red Rock High School showcases 126 juried artists, live music food and libations. It’s always fun to pick up a piece of art from fabulous artists around the Verde Valley as well as across the country.

Sedona Airport Family Fun Day on October 14 brings Wings & Wheels to Sedona. Many aircraft, vintage airplanes, new hi-tech aircraft, war birds, and more will be on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also on October 14, Red Rocks Oktoberfest is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oktoberfest is co-sponsored by Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks and the city of Sedona. Proceeds benefit the many youth-oriented projects and programs that the Red Rocks Rotary supports.

It’s fun to watch artists around Sedona set up their easels and paint the majestic scenery. The Sedona Arts Center’s 19th annual Sedona Plein Air Festival is from October 20 to 28.

October winds down with the Dia De Los Muertos, a Sedona favorite, held at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village. Immerse yourself in the large-scale installations and vignettes throughout Tlaquepaque to commemorate Mexico’s Dia De Los Muertos, remember loved ones and celebrate their lives with altars showcasing Mexican culture and heritage. Celebrate this five-day event with special performances on October 28 – November 1.

On November 4, the Sedona Food Truck Festival hosted by the city of Sedona is back for its fifth year from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Grub, Brews and Tunes. Held at Posse Grounds Park, this event is a crowd favorite with lots of delicious food, beer, wine and great music.
