Sedona Arts Center Representing Sedona in Economic Impact Study

sedona-arts-center-front

The Sedona Arts Center is leading the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 study on behalf of the City of Sedona and the Chamber. The Arts & Economic Prosperity study is conducted nationally every 5 years (plans for 2020 were pushed back to 2022 due to the pandemic). To date, Sedona has not been represented in the study, which is why the Sedona Arts Center’s participation this year is so exciting!

All nonprofit arts organizations in Sedona have been briefed on the project which involves the collection of intercept surveys as well as organizational information. The intercept surveys are being distributed at events around the City via hard copy (paper) or QR code and collect event related spending.  All information collected is anonymous.  By the fall of 2023, we will have our own data on the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and culture industry in Sedona – which measures cultural tourism data as well as organizational impact on our economy.  The information collected goes in to the state’s overall totals as well as the national numbers.

As mentioned, this is the first time Sedona has participated in this study, but Americans for the Arts has been collecting this information for 30 years.  AFTA leads this study on behalf of the nonprofit arts and cultural industry across our country.

It is important to have this data for advocacy and funding purposes and it has been critical in increasing funding at the state as well as national levels!
