coffee-chat-8-16-22-close-upSeptember at last!  Longer afternoon shadows and later sunrises herald the coming of cooler temperatures and delightfully crisp evening air. I hope you are ready to enjoy the season and join us in several exciting community events we’re hosting this month.

I’m excited to introduce you to our fabulous Chamber staff at our “Meet the Chamber” event at Mary D. Fisher Theatre on September 27. This incredibly efficient and talented group supports our 730+ Chamber partners in the never-ending work of keeping a business going and growing while helping new ones sprout wings and fly. Many of our team are long-time Sedonans, some raising their families here. Others have family who operate Sedona small businesses, while others are relatively new to the area, bringing fresh eyes and ideas to our philosophy of being in the community, for the community. All bring impressive professional credentials to their highly specialized work and share the unique joy of working on behalf of one of America’s most beautiful places.

I believe getting to know people face-to-face is the best way to get conversations going, find commonalities and spark new ideas. Before you know it, we could be working together on one of your passion projects or advancing solutions from your ideas. Sharing opinions and perspectives will make US better and get YOU excited about staying involved. I hope to see you in person on Tuesday, September 27, from 8:30-10 a.m. Please RSVP at sedonachamberevents.com.

A few days later, I will host a Coffee Chat at the Chamber Administrative Office at 45 Sunset Drive. Every month I look forward to this informal, no-agenda opportunity to meet one-on-one with Sedonans who have questions, comments, and ideas that can help us improve our mission of making Sedona the best place to live, work, play and visit. Our Coffee Chat this month is set for Thursday, September 29, from 8-9 a.m. My office space is limited, so please RSVP at sedonachamberevents.com. Let’s enjoy a coffee or tea together and talk about what is on your mind.

Two weeks from today is our next Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable, an event that builds on the powerful Sedona spirit of community betterment, as manifested by the more than 130 chamber members who are nonprofit organizations. As a Chamber, our goal is to facilitate synergies in our nonprofit community, offering a venue where agencies can meet, find common ground, complement each other’s work and multiply the impact of their community service. We also provide education and staff presentations that help NONPROFITS hone their mission.  For example, this month, Kevin Adams of Keep Sedona Beautiful will talk about the art and science of effective grant writing. Recently, Chamber Social Media Manager and Content Creator Eric Nguyen presented on harnessing the power of social media. At a future meeting, we will offer advice on financial management from our auditor, Gary Stewart.

If your nonprofit is not yet a Chamber member, why not join us today? Contact Director of Partner Services Erin Bruce at ebruce@sedonachamber.com. Then get ready to meet your peers and find new ways to improve your service at the Nonprofit Leadership Roundtable on September 23 from 8-9:30 at the Sedona Community Center.

It is another glorious September, and working together, Sedonans are building a balanced and supportive community.
