utilities-heroThat jack hammering you hear is the sound of Uptown traffic improvements underway at last! The City’s first major Sedona in Motion project begins with roundabouts at Jordan Road and just north of Art Barn Road, where a new Schnebly Road extension (not to be confused with Schnebly Hill Road) will connect to SR 89A.

Pack some patience as you adjust to construction of this multi-million-dollar project. When completed next year, Uptown will be transformed with a tasteful, landscaped median that prevents left turns and mid-block pedestrian crossings; an additional southbound lane from Oak Creek Canyon to Forest Road that improves traffic flow, and those new roundabouts at Jordan Road and the Schnebly Road connector, offering an alternative to get to public parking faster.

It’s going to be fantastic, but our support for Uptown businesses during construction is crucial to a successful project. The Chamber is offering strategic advice and promotional ideas to help merchants through any rough spots, and many of our efforts depend on you taking advantage of some tantalizing offers.

Locals Nite Out’ begins on July 10 and runs through August from 3 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday. Here’s the July buy one get one schedule and offer:

July 10 Open Range Grill & Tavern : Buy any entrée, get one entrée to go for free
July 17 89Agave : Buy any appetizer and get one for free
July 24 Oaxaca Restaurant & Rooftop Cantina : Buy any entrée and get one for free
July 31 Sound Bites Grill : Buy a wine tasting and get one free

This is a perfect opportunity to take a relaxing midweek break, get a look at project progress, enjoy an excellent dinner with a discount offer especially for you, and take an evening stroll among the nearby shops, many of whom are extending business hours during construction.

The Chamber is helping with a FREE Construction Support Guide for businesses in the construction area. You will find it at sedonachamber.com/SIM.

With a little patience and a lot of support, this major step forward will help transportation and traffic flow, improve our economy and quality of life, and enhance our visitor experience. Thank you for doing your part!
