How the Sedona Chamber Drives Tourists To Local Businesses
One of our core missions at the Greater Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau is to ensure that Sedona’s visitor economy benefits the local businesses that make this place extraordinary. Here’s how we’re meeting that need, every day.
A Digital Engine Built for Business
Our flagship website, VisitSedona.com, is the most visited Sedona-specific site, attracting over 3.5 million users annually. Designed to be both educational and action-oriented, it highlights local businesses through categorized listings, a robust event calendar, and a dedicated deals and coupons page that channels visitors directly to our members.
Meanwhile, SedonaChamber.com brings in over 55,000 visits a year, featuring a Local News and Deals section and a member directory to keep both residents and visitors engaged with the local business community.
Social Media Reach That Scales
Our combined 344,000+ social media followers generated 29 million impressions in 2024. Every campaign, post, and share is designed to elevate the Sedona brand while spotlighting the businesses that bring it to life. From showcasing seasonal experiences to amplifying member stories, we use every opportunity to connect digital engagement with real-world visitation.
Email Campaigns with Real Results
We manage three targeted newsletters designed to move the needle:
- Frontliners News, sent to local tourism professionals and concierges, keeps your business top of mind for face-to-face visitor referrals.
- Our consumer newsletter reaches 167,000+ subscribers, packed with travel inspiration, member features, and special offers.
- The weekly business newsletter strengthens peer-to-peer engagement, member visibility, and community collaboration.
Partnering with the City for Shared Success
In alignment with City-led tourism initiatives, we recently invited members to participate in the City of Sedona’s summer destination marketing campaign by submitting coupons and special offers for visitor promotion. Thank you to the City’s Tourism Manager Andrew Grossmann for including Chamber businesses in this vital effort.
Looking ahead, we are committed to deepening our partnership with the City to support the sustainable growth of local commerce and ensure Sedona remains a world-class destination and a vibrant, connected community.
A Referral Engine in the Heart of Uptown
The Sedona Visitor Center, located in Uptown and jointly funded by the City of Sedona and the Sedona Chamber, is one of the most powerful and consistent tools we have to connect tourists to local businesses. We are grateful to Mayor Jablow and the City Council for supporting this vital resource.
With 8 paid staff and 35 dedicated volunteers, and many of those long-time residents, the Visitor Center consistently receives 5-star reviews for its warmth, knowledge, and service. These volunteers aren’t just guides—they’re advocates for your business.
In 2023, the Visitor Center interacted with 170,000 travelers. Given an average group size of three, a single referral often means multiple visitors walking through your door. And with 38 distinct and highly knowledgeable referral sources, the reach extends across all sectors of our member base.
Visitor Center referrals don’t just generate sales. They shape visitor experiences, encourage longer stays, and turn first-time guests into lifelong advocates of Sedona—and your business.
Amplifying Through Collective Marketing
In addition to these high-visibility efforts, we’ve helped coordinate voluntary cooperative marketing alliances, such as our lodging partners group, who join forces to expand reach and maximize marketing efficiency. These collaborations allow businesses to pool resources, align messaging, and run targeted campaigns that deliver greater collective impact.
We’re actively exploring new sector-based alliances in areas like outdoor adventure, wellness, dining, arts, and retail—ensuring that Sedona’s full visitor experience is represented and promoted.
If you’re interested in forming or joining a cooperative marketing alliance, we want to hear from you. Whether you have an idea or simply want to explore what’s possible, the Chamber is ready to support and help bring it to life.
Expanding Influence Through Strategic Advocacy
Driving tourism isn’t just about local marketing—it’s about building bridges beyond Sedona. That’s why we’re expanding Sedona’s reach through strategic advocacy at trade and professional events across the state and country.
From David’s recent trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with key policymakers, to our attendance at the Western Association of Chamber Executives annual conference, and our upcoming participation in the Arizona Governor’s Conference on Tourism, we’re building connections that ripple outward.
These relationships put Sedona on the radar of travel professionals, business leaders, and influencers with their own networks—helping to position our community as not just a tourist destination, but also a premier location for meetings, events, retreats, and other destination-based travel.
Sedona’s Success Is Your Success
