2021 Business Survey

Young women friends placing an order in a coffee shopThe Yavapai SBDC, the City of Sedona, Arizona Public Service (APS) and the Sedona Chamber are working together to help our local businesses. We appreciate your time taking our Business Survey, and want to share some results and let you know the developments from it.

Approximately 85% of respondents said their business was increasing or holding steady. If you took the survey and are in declining mode, we would like to connect again and gather some more information from you.

53% of you said your customer base has changed.

Staffing is affecting over 55% of you and was a recurring theme in the survey. Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order to rescind the March 2020 waiver in the unemployment benefits. People on unemployment, now have to prove they are looking for work. We hope this will get things going in the right direction!

The details of the Executive Order are here.

Insufficient affordable work-force housing is a major theme that we are aware of and is affecting people across the nation.

Online exposure, social media presence and functioning website account for 67% of respondents’ marketing challenges.

In regards to what legal assistance would be helpful, here are the responses:

> Human resource management (31%)
> Brand Protection (27%)
> Business Structure – LLC, Sole proprietorship, S-Corp, etc (22%)

The supply chain concerns are affecting timeliness of deliveries (36%) and cost of goods sold (49%).

IT assistance was needed in these areas: website maintenance (37%), need for consulting (18%) and the ever elusive internet access (22%).

Based on these results the SBDC, City and chamber want to share some of our discussion. We will be working to create some workshops for Legal, IT, marketing. We also want to remind you that a starting point for counseling and resources is nearby.
