A Message to the Community
Dear members of the business community,
Our hearts go out to everyone in Sedona & the Verde Valley affected by this weekend's flooding. Heavy rain closed roads and forced evacuations across the region, from Sedona to Cornville and Camp Verde. We are deeply grateful to the Sedona Fire District, Sedona Police, the Yavapai and Coconino County Sheriff's Offices, and the first responders from neighboring communities who carried out evacuations and rescues under dangerous conditions.
The safety of our residents, visitors, and businesses is always our highest priority. We are in regular contact with the City of Sedona, both counties, and emergency management officials so that what we share is timely, accurate, and based on expert guidance. We will continue to share their updates via our channels.
After spending the morning with many of our businesses along Oak Creek and speaking with our partners around the region, I can confidently say that our community is showing up for one another. Thank you all for the passion you put into your work and the compassion you have for each of your neighbors. I saw resilience and I saw hope that despite the challenges we have faced this year, and the destruction caused by the flooding, we are as strong as ever.
To do our part, we have collected resources for your business for each step of the way forward, a survey to help measure the impact, and will be supporting efforts to help our community access recovery funds.
Resources for your business
- Report business impacts: If your business was affected by damage, closure, lost access, or cancellations, please let us know. Responses are confidential. We share only aggregated data, which helps our elected officials and partners understand the economic impact and supports requests for disaster assistance, such as SBA loans.
- Flood Recovery Resources page: information and tools to help your business through recovery.
Closures in Sedona (as of 4 pm, Nov. 3)
- State Route 89A is closed in both directions from Uptown Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon to Kachina Village, just south of Flagstaff. No reopening time has been set.
- Creekside recreation areas, including Crescent Moon, Grasshopper Point, and Slide Rock, are closed. Please stay out of Oak Creek and away from creek banks and washes.
For other Verde Valley communities, please check with Yavapai County and your local municipality.
One message for visitors
Sedona & the Verde Valley remain open and are actively welcoming visitors. Most businesses were not affected, and we ask guests for patience as affected businesses work to reopen.
In addition to serving our visitors at the Sedona Chamber Visitor Center, we are actively updating visitors on Visit Sedona. I am working with news and media outlets to share that the region is still open, while directing travelers to official sources for road and safety information.
Please remember to direct visitors to official sources seen below.:
